BOWLING AND BINGO BUDDIES

Ross and San Rafael

The Cedars in Ross welcomes volunteers age 13 and older to spend time with adults with disabilities. Be a Bowling Buddy on Monday nights, 6:30-8 p.m. at Country Club Bowl in San Rafael or a Bingo Buddy on Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Cedars residence in Ross. The Marin Headlands Nursery team of staff and volunteers grow plants to preserve and restore the Marin Headlands. Volunteer support is the only way that the nursery can succeed and ensure that each plant can get the care it needs to thrive. The nursery is growing over 35,000 plants for the many important projects this year, including Hawk Hill and Rodeo Valley Trail. VOLUNTEER READING BUDDIES

Make a difference in a child’s life by volunteering to assist new readers build their skills and confidence. Volunteers encourage new readers to engage with library books at a new level by assisting with pronunciation, helping with difficult words, introducing new words, posing and answering questions to increase comprehension and general concepts.  Volunteers read with children at the Pickleweed Library for 1 hour per week on Tuesday evenings. CALIFORNIA REENTRY PROGRAM NEEDS VOLUNTEERS

The California Reentry Program at San Quentin State Prison is a nonprofit, independent advising program that seeks to cover a wide array of future parolees’ needs including academic advising, referrals to housing resources, job advice/placement, child-support issues, and support groups. Love is the Answer's Pet Connection Program provides opportunities for you and your pet to meet and visit with residents living in long-term care facilities in Marin.  This improves the quality of lives, provides comfort, helps to decrease loneliness and isolation.  Requirements are minimal:  An interview/orientation, pet evaluation, obedience and current immunizations, and an ability to commit to visits on a regular basis.  Visits can be made mornings or afternoons any day of the week.  Call (415) 472-5482 to set up an interview and orientation.
