EARTH, EDUCATION AND ENRICHMENT

The San Rafael Resilient Neighborhoods Climate Action Team celebrates Earth Day every day with their ongoing efforts. Collectively, they reduced 122,913 lbs. of carbon emissions by making simple changes to their lifestyles like paying a few dollars more to get 100% renewable electricity, taking shorter showers, and some are getting electric vehicles. They also connected with their neighbors to be better prepared for wildfires and other emergencies. New Climate Action Teams start on April 23, 7 p.m., at the San Rafael Community Center, 618 B St., and on May 9, 7 p.m., at the Mill Valley Public Library, 375 Throckmorton Ave.  Registration is required at ResilientNeighborhoods.org.                         -Photo courtesy of Resilient Neighborhoods

Marin Charitable’s annual Floral Fling fundraiser was held on  April 2 at the Marin Country Club in Novato. Approximately 180 guests enjoyed the English garden party theme with a luncheon, shopping and fashion show. Pictured (above, left to right) are Floral Fling committee members Gayle Schreuder, Joyce Thornton, Beryl McGreevy, Patti Hurst, Liz Harrell, Jennie Gill and Jane Hartman.

The Floral Fling event raised approximately $72,000 that will help support Marin Charitable’s funding of education and enrichment for children who have limited opportunities. Pictured (above, top, left to right) are Marin Charitable Co-President Nancee Rubenstein, “special guest” Queen Elizabeth, Erika Hagopian and (above, bottom) the Floral Fling fashion show models sporting the latest fashions from Alice Becker.
