The Marin Center for Independent Living hosted its annual Sip, Shop and Socialize boutique, luncheon and fashion show on May 7 at the Meadow Club in Fairfax. Approximately 215 women attended, helping to raise about $40,000. Pictured (above) are the Marin Center for Independent Living fashion models and auxiliary board members.
The event was a big success, thanks to many volunteers and sponsors. The Rotary Club of Novato Sunrise presented fifth, eighth, and 12th grade students the opportunity to submit a persuasive essay to promote positivity and support upstanders, a person who speaks or acts in support of an individual or cause, particularly someone who intervenes on behalf of a person being attacked or bullied. The club awarded cash prizes for each school’s grade level first and second place finishers and certificates for honorable mentions. More than 200 people attended the awards ceremony on May 16 at the Novato City Council Chambers.
