The COVID-19 restrictions on large gatherings have reshaped the annual Relay for Life into a drive-through Luminaria Ceremony on July 25, 9-10:30 p.m., at the Olive Elementary School parking lot, 629 Plum St., Novato. Relay participants continue to raise funds and focus on the continued needs of cancer patients and their families. The public is invited to join the candlelit event in remembering the lives of people affected by cancer. To purchase luminaria, contact Sxxxxx Rugani at 415-246-6920 or Mxxxx Vespa at mvespa67@yahoo.com. Relay for Life supports the American Cancer Society’s availability to help keep the 800-227-2345 number operating 24 hours per day to assist patients and families. -Photos courtesy of Relay for Life of Marin
Sanzuma is donating boxes of fresh produce grown in its school gardens to 200 of Marin’s most at-risk families every week, including COVID-19 positive families, families with compromised immune systems, families with deported head of households and vulnerable members of the LGBTQ community. Sanzuma has raised enough money to provide this produce through Aug. 31, then 125 boxes per week through October and 50 boxes per week through December. The organization’s goal is to raise an additional $55,160 to be able to continue to provide 200 boxes a week through December. Donations are welcome at sanzuma.org. -Photos courtesy of Sanzuma
