Philanthropist Ronald Collins made a $50,000 donation to Marin Museum of Contemporary Art (MarinMOCA) to acknowledge an important management transition at the museum. Amy Owen (above, top) will start in her new role as executive director on April 5. She brings with her a long career in the nonprofit arts and education world. Retiring Executive Director Nancy Rehkopf accepted the check from Collins (above, bottom). In addition to exhibitions, the organization provides art enrichment programs for local elementary students, teaches more than 200 adult art classes annually, and offers professional development opportunities for more than 150 local artist members. -Photos courtesy of MarinMOCA
International Transgender Day of Visibility takes place every March 31, dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide. Suzanne Ford, a transgender person and president of the board of directors for The Spahr Center (pictured, right), says “The Spahr Center is Marin’s only nonprofit organization providing a range of services to the LGBTQ+ and HIV communities in Marin. We operate a wonderful program to build connections among trans and nonbinary people and their families; to provide support and counseling; to educate the community at large about our lives, and to engage in activism to ensure that Marin’s people and institutions embrace us as essential to building a truly great county.” For information about The Spahr Center, visit thespahrcenter.org. -Photo courtesy of Suzanne Ford
