The Rotary Club of Novato awarded $2,000 in cash prizes to three high school and three middle school teams in its Don’t Litter video contest on June 3. The contest, developed by the club’s Climate Action Team, asked students to create a video to help educate and activate eliminating litter in Novato. Nineteen entries from four schools were submitted.
Middle school winners
- First place: Marin Christian Academy, “Life Can Be Ruff”
- Second place: Sinaloa Middle School, “Litter is Bitter”
- Third place: Sinaloa Middle School, “Litterers are Losers”
High school winners
All from San Marin High School
- First place: “Make a Good Choice”
- Second place: “What Happens When You Litter”
- Third place: “Litter Kills”
“We wanted to create a funny, informative video that helps spread the message about litter. The experience really made us aware of litter and its impacts,” said Logan MacDonald of San Marin High School.
The Novato Rotary will include the winning entries in a promotional anti-litter campaign and also make them available on social media. For more information, visit novatorotary.org.
