Sophomore and junior English class members at Marin Catholic High School recently took time out of finals preparation to gather non-perishable food and snacks and write letters to soldiers overseas. Created by English teachers at Marin Catholic, the service project tied into recent studies of soldiers’ war experiences. The Marin chapter of the Blue Star Moms will mail the 90 care packages to their military destinations.
“This project has been happening for a number of years at Marin Catholic and these boxes are very welcome reminders to those receiving them that we here at home have not forgotten their service and sacrifice,” said Barbara Bochner of Blue Star Moms.
The cost to mail each box is approximately $18. The Blue Star Moms is a nonprofit volunteer organization of moms and friends of active duty military and veterans.
