United Markets hosted Customer Appreciation Day on June 24 at their San Rafael and San Anselmo stores. The event included food demonstrations, samples from local vendors and opportunities to win gift baskets. Throughout the day, employees and customers were invited to donate to 10,000 Degrees and their mission to achieve educational equity and to support students from low-income backgrounds to and through college. More than $500 was raised.

“We believe in supporting our area schools, local nonprofit organizations and local vendors that produce the food carried in our stores. United Markets believes that building strong relationships is what makes Marin such a wonderful place to live and work,” said Kelly Smith, owner of United Markets.

Additionally, United Markets offers the Nickel Jar Program. Each time a customer uses a reusable shopping bag, they’re given a nickel and can donate it to United Markets’ nonprofit of the month.
