BIKE FESTIVAL DEEMED A SUCCESS

Family Bike Festival participants enjoy a day of biking the Bay Trail.

Trips for Kids hosted its first Family Bike Festival in two years. Participants from the Canal community of San Rafael and elsewhere around the Bay Area explored the Bay Trail, learned new bike skills, shared lunch and received free bike gear.

“It was such a success that we’re going to be continuing programming through the fall once a month,” said Shahne Belveal, Trail Rides & Earn-a-Bike program manager. Trips for Kids will also host “Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day” on Saturday, Oct. 1 at China Camp State Park.

Trips for Kids, the nation’s largest, oldest and most diverse youth development bicycling organization, promotes equitable access to safe places to play and exercise, provides opportunities for physical activity in and out of school, and builds self-esteem, personal skills and environmental stewardship.
