Redwood Credit Union joined credit unions around the world in celebrating the 74th annual International Credit Union Day, a day for credit unions to reflect on their history and commitment to their members and communities.
One of the ways Redwood Credit Union honored the day was by donating 25 cents per card transaction to local nonprofit organizations that empower communities in Sonoma, Napa, Marin, Lake, Mendocino and San Francisco counties, each time members used their RCU Visa debit or credit cards on Oct. 20. More than $45,000 was donated to local nonprofit partners Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County, Community Action of Napa Valley, North Coast Opportunities in Lake and Mendocino counties, Community Action Marin and Compass Family Services in San Francisco.
“This year’s ICU Day theme is ‘Empower your financial future,’” said Brett Martinez, Redwood Credit Union president and CEO. “Every day, we empower members by helping them retain and grow their money through affordable financial services and by offering financial education to help individuals and businesses make informed decisions. We’re honored to be part of an industry that cares about people and supports its communities.”
