In response to the devastating fires in Maui, The Rotary Club of Ignacio raised more than $13,000 for the Hawaii District 5000 Maui Fires Relief Fund. The funds are being used to provide gas cards to people who lost their homes, as well as other significant services.
“Our club members always open their hearts and wallets in times of disaster,” said Charley Voight, membership committee chair of Ignacio Rotary. “We’ve raised a substantial amount of money responding to hurricanes, Northern California fires, Ukraine and now the fires in Maui.”
Rotarians living on the island of Maui, many of whom were displaced by the fires, are working in emergency shelters, moving supplies, finding housing for the displaced, supporting schools and more.
