The United Way of the Bay Area will mark 211
Day, Feb. 11, with an art contest. Create a compelling
illustration that conveys the impact and significance of
211 services within your community, representing what
it means to have access to needed resources. Explore
the theme of connection and diversity, portraying the
link between individuals in need and the various range
of health and human services made accessible through
calling 211. Examples of services provided by 211
include:
• Food: help accessing free healthy groceries or
getting a hot meal
• Shelter: assistance locating shelter for the night,
help with paying rent or understanding tenant
rights
• Utilities: help with paying bills or getting utilities
turned back on
• Disaster relief: assistance locating warming
centers during cold weather or accessing FEMA
funds to rebuild your home after a devastating
natural disaster
• Health and wellness: access to mental health
resources, assistance with finding health
insurance, or support to kick habits like smoking.
Two awards, People’s Choice and Judge’s, will be
selected for a chance to win $1,500 each. The People’s
Choice winner will be selected via an online voting
process at uwba.org/211artcontest. Voting will be
based on the top 25 selections and be held Feb. 2-10.
Both winners will be announced Feb. 11.
