The International Association of Fire Chiefs named the Southern Marin Fire Protection District as one of the top 15 fire service leaders across North America and the world. The IAFC represents the leadership of firefighters and emergency responders worldwide. Each year select fire-rescue and emergency service organizations are honored for their excellence and innovation among the international community through vision, information, education, services and representation. The Southern Marin Fire Protection District has transformed over the past decade, evolving from a financially strained organization with aging equipment to a pioneering force in fire protection and emergency response, according to the International Association of Fire Chiefs. By leveraging technology like real-time satellite imagery and other advanced systems, the fire district has enhanced their operational efficiency and response capabilities, setting a national standard in fire safety, the organization’s leaders said. “When I’m asked why I think our people are exceptional here at the Southern Marin Fire Protection District, I think of a unified purpose,” said Chris
Tubbs, fire chief. “We have very high standards and values, and our people embrace those and live them out every day. Over the next 10 years the Southern Marin Fire Protection District will undoubtedly face a variety of challenges and opportunities. My hope and vision is that we continue to position ourselves to be successful in navigating these ebbs and flows and ultimately continue to provide exceptional service to our communities.”
