Giving Marin grant recipient Make It Home had the opportunity to support and collaborate with the Larkspur Corte Madera School District to enhance a wellness center. “Hawk Haven,” located at Neil Cummins Elementary School in Corte Madera, was designed to support the well-being of the whole child — physically, emotionally, mentally and socially.

“Wellness centers for younger students include fun and interactive activities like guided imagery, simple yoga poses, or relaxation games, which help kids manage stress and stay focused,” said Quinn Galli, Neil Cummins School counselor.“Offering art, music, and mindfulness options can help children express their emotion screatively. These outlets not only make emotional expression more enjoyable but also support cognitive development and problem-solving skills.”

Make It Home and its team of volunteer designers reinvented the space using items from its donated furniture bank including soft cushions, rocking chairs, bookshelves and wall art in neutral tones. The space will allow students the opportunity to focus on relaxation, mindfulness and stress management.
