The San Geronimo Valley Community Center will present
the 10th Annual International Day of Peace Festival Sept. 17- 22 at the center located at 6350 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. in San Geronimo.
This free week- long celebration, which is presented in conjunction with the United Nations International Day of Peace held each September, has historically offered participants an opportunity to reflect on what peace means for them individually, as a community andworldwide. This 10th anniversary Peace Festival will feature a series of workshops, activities, art exhibits and performances intended to inspire and promote peace.
This year’s series of peace and wellness- related workshops leading up to the event include a peace through sustenance discussion, sound meditation, non- violent communication and Poetry for Peace workshop. Saturday evening offers a ticketed performance by cosmic comic Swami Beyondananda.
Sunday’s festival finale will include a Peace, Film and Music Festival featuring musical performances by Wobbly World and Lumanation. There will be art exhibitions from Teamworks Art Mentoring Program previously on display at the United Nations, and printmaking by the inmates at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center through the William James Association’s Prison Art Project.
The Peace Festival is made possible through the support of the Patty and Jack Wright Foundation. The full schedule of events can be found at sgvcc.org.
