The students and staff of Our Lady of Loretto School in Novato rallied to restock the parish food pantry following a critical shortage. The Our Lady
of Loretto Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, which manages the church pantry, had reached an alarming point right before the holiday season.
“We were down to two jars of peanut butter and a few jars of pasta sauce,” said Hank Ryan, president of the conference. “The wonderful staff and students of Our Lady of Loretto School responded overwhelmingly with a deluge of donations. The pantry is now full to the rafters; just in time to meet the increasing demands for food from the poor of our parish.”
In response to the call for help, Our Lady of Loretto School organized a charity food drive on Oct. 23, encouraging all students to bring in specific food items for the parish. This effort is part of the school’s monthly tradition of supporting a chosen charity, either through a $5 donation or a food contribution. The Student Council played a crucial role by collecting the donations, transporting them to the pantry, and assisting in restocking the shelves.
