On Dec. 11, the Marin Civic Center Library hosted “The Legacy of Marin City: Southern Cooking at Home” inspired by the book “Grandmothers Feed Us Love.” The event brought together the Marin County Free Library and Marin City Historical & Preservation Society to honor the wisdom and warmth of the grandmothers who shared their stories. Through food and conversation, the rich traditions of culture and community were celebrated.

“I am proud to be a curator of this heritage book, honoring the Marin City grandmothers over the age of 80,” said Felecia Gaston, author. “They are so authentic to Black culture, because many of them prepare food as they know how — a little of this or a little of that — and tasting along the way, making do with what ingredients they have at hand. This book is full of cherished photos and the legacy of their generations.”
