The Bay Area Creative Foundation announced the 2025 Creative Youth awardees. This year, the fifth annual Creative Youth Awards received submissions from Bay Area high school students in seven creative disciplines: creative writing, dance, film, music performance, original music, photography and visual arts. A jury of 42 discipline-specific Bay Area arts professionals reviewed the submissions.

Nearly 2,000 Bay Area high school students submitted creative works and 605 received a total of $115,900 in cash awards. Among the participants were more than 340 students from Marin County, 86 of whom were honored with awards totaling $14,000 including:

• “Bohemian Rhapsody” Renn Smith, Mill Valley – Presidential Award in Music Performance

• “Trash in Space” Lindsay Oh, Novato – Exceptional Award in Visual Art

• “Where Stories Collide” Emi Hamelin, San Rafael – Exceptional Award in Photography

• “Slava Otsu” Felix Fulton, Mill Valley – Special Award in Dance

• “Cat Attack” Mason Barnhardt, Fairfax – Superior Award in Film.

“High school is a critical time to celebrate the value of creative expression and artistic experimentation,” said Bay Area Creative Foundation Executive Director Lani Rovzar. “The students that participated in the 2025 Creative Youth Awards have not only shown incredible talent and potential, but they have demonstrated courage and vulnerability in sharing their work. The Bay Area Creative Foundation exists to honor that, and empower them to continue exploring and expanding new ways of thinking.”

The awards program will culminate at the day-long Creative Youth Celebration on July 19 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Admission is free and will be open to the public. In addition to showcasing the artwork and performances of the 2025 Creative Youth Awards artists, there will be arts activities, professional artist panel discussions and the opportunity to connect with other young creatives from across the Bay Area.
