The Rotary Club of Ignacio received the Rotary District 5150 Governor’s Award for the top large club at the district’s annual conference held in Santa Rosa May 15-18. The 52-member club, one of four in Novato, competed against other larger clubs in San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin counties and won based on exceptional performance in community service, international service, vocational service, youth service, membership development and foundation contributions.

Rotary District 5150 is composed of 41 clubs and more than 1,600 members in the three county San Francisco area. Each club was asked to record its progress in attaining pre-determined goals in several categories.

“The criteria set out to achieve this award began in July of last year and had timed measurements and attainment goals that were important to meet,” said Ivar Olsen, Rotary of Ignacio club president. “Our management team was aware of the deadlines and did an excellent job tracking our progress toward our club goal attainments yearlong. “

The brass Rotary wheel emblemed trophy will stay with the club for the year and then be forwarded to the next large club winner in May of next year.

“We celebrate the club’s 50th anniversary in April next year and plan to incorporate this award in our recognitions past, present and future,” Olsen added.
