As summer winds down and a new school year begins, the Marin County real estate community is stepping up to the plate for a cause that hits home. The 18th Annual Kickball Showdown, founded by Scott Gerber of Norcal Commercial, will return Sept. 26, with proceeds benefiting Next Generation Scholars, a local nonprofit dedicated to empowering first-generation college students on their path to higher education. What began as a lighthearted way to give back has grown into an annual tradition, drawing real estate professionals, attorneys, lenders and other local business leaders together in friendly competition united by a shared commitment to supporting the youth of Marin County. “Every year, this event is a reminder that community isn’t just about where we live, it’s about what we build together,” said Gerber, founder of Norcal Commercial and the original organizer of the event. “Eighteen years ago, we were just looking for a way to give back and have fun. Now it’s become a longstanding tradition.” The Kickball Showdown supports NGS’s mission of leveling the playing field and creating pathways to prosperity for students who will be the first in their families to graduate from college.
The Kickball Showdown will be held 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Piper Park, 250 Doherty Drive, in Larkspur. Sponsorship and registration opportunities are available at kickballshowdown.org.
