Mercer Whitty and Drew Chun believe that every child deserves the chance to play, grow and thrive through sports — no matter their circumstances.
Friends since elementary school, Whitty and Chun, now sophomores at Redwood High School, were looking for a way to give back. “Since both boys are big into sports, they thought why not collect gently used cleats and get them to kids in parts of the world that could really use them,” said Nicole Whitty, Mercer’s mom.
With that, Give A Cleat was born. By collecting and repurposing donated cleats through local drop-off sites at schools and businesses, the pair turns unused gear into opportunities. With two drop off locations in Marin County (and more to come), Give A Cleat has already collected more than 100 pairs of cleats. To donate gently used cleats, visit Cafe Verde, 502 Tamalpais Drive, or F45 Training, The Village at Corte Madera, 1508 Redwood Highway, Corte Madera.
