Marin Ballet announces that Skylar Campbell, former principal dancer with The National Ballet of Canada and Houston Ballet, will join the cast as a guest artist dancing the role of the Nutcracker Prince in the 2025 Nutcracker performances.
A native Californian, Campbell joined The National Ballet of Canada in 2009, where he rose to principal dancer in 2018. In 2022, he became a principal with Houston Ballet, performing with the company until embarking on new artistic projects in 2025. Named one of Dance Magazine’s “Top 25 to Watch,” Campbell founded the Skylar Campbell Dance Collective in 2019, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting artists through performance, curation and collaboration.
Marin Ballet also announced the formation of the Marin Ballet Youth Company, dedicated to presenting high- quality performances for pre- professional artists aspiring toward careers in dance. The company is composed of dancers from Marin Ballet’s top level by audition who will participate in performance and workshop opportunities at Marin Ballet’s newly renovated Phyllis Thelen Studio Theater and in local Bay Area communities.
Marin Ballet Youth Company also seeks to give back through outreach performances for local students and senior communities. In this inaugural year, the youth company has three performance opportunities and pursues more. The 2025- 26 season will begin alongside Grammy-nominated artists in Jenny Oakes Baker’s “Joy to the World” National Tour this December.
