The Redwoods, A Community of Seniors, announced that its October fundraising event brought the organization $400,000 closer to reaching a $5 million goal for a multi-year fundraising campaign that will enhance access to care for low-income older adults.
The Endowment and Legacy Giving Campaign, launched in late 2024, is a five-year effort with the goal of doubling The Redwoods’ existing endowment. A focus is offering financial assistance to residents in the new Bettye Ferguson Center for Memory Care as well as assisted living areas.
“We are seeking to double our current endowment so that, in addition to our current resident financial assistance program, we are able to offer enhanced financial support to residents in memory care and assisted living, where there is currently no readily accessible government subsidy,” said CEO Kyle Ruth-Islas.
“This campaign embodies the heart of our mission to support low-income residents who call The Redwoods home,” said Caroline Joachim, member of The Redwoods Board of Directors. “It’s about safeguarding their future.”
The event, “An Evening of Celebrating our Community,” was held on The Redwoods campus on Oct. 23, drawing over 170 supporters, community leaders and elected officials. Participants enjoyed outdoor dining, a live auction and presentations highlighting the Memory Care Center.
