Marin County Cooperation Team has expanded its garden program to two campuses in the Sausalito Marin City School District.
Since January 2024, MCCT has tended and taught gardening in the Dr. Martin Luther King Academy Phillips campus garden, cultivating not only vegetables and flowers — but curiosity, confidence and connection in its students.
In October, the program was extended to the Nevada Street campus. The team is overseeing day-to-day garden operations and providing hands-on
garden elective instruction for transitional kindergarten through eighth-grade students.
“Through our garden program we set out not just to grow
food, but to grow knowledge, opportunity and community,” said Jahmeer Reynolds, MCCT executive director. “What began as a simple idea — to help students and families understand the food they eat — has evolved into a powerful movement. Today, our produce is sold in local grocery stores, our gardens provide meaningful volunteer opportunities for Marin County residents, and our program creates pathways for transitional age youth to learn, work and lead.”
