Members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Marin development team recently visited Hamilton School in Novato to meet fifth-graders taking part in Children for Change. Children for Change, a 2024 Giving Marin grant winner, offers service learning and student leadership programs through classes, lunch clubs and after school programs.
“Children for Change empowers kids to be change makers in the world, and partnering with Vinnie’s has provided a wonderful opportunity to do just that,” said Gail McCallister, service learning specialist at Children for Change.
Jennifer Brine and Sasha Brenner spoke to the class about St. Vincent de Paul’s mission, programs and led conversations about homelessness and food insecurity. Together, they read books about homelessness and the students made cards of hope for their less fortunate clients.
“These same students already support our free dining room by preparing bag lunches,” said Kathleen Lazor Woodcock, St. Vincent’s chief philanthropy officer. “We are so grateful for this continued commitment to helping keep our community nourished.”
