College of Marin dedicated the centerpiece of the Kentfield campus on Feb. 4, when hundreds of community leaders and students gathered for the debut of the David Wain Coon Center for Student Success. Named for 13-year College of Marin former superintendent, Wain Coon, the three story, 86,000-square-foot building includes a larger campus library, classrooms, study rooms, meeting rooms, an event venue and coffee lounge. With sweeping views of Mount Tamalpais and large windows and decks, the building’s slanted roof mimics the ridgeline of the mountain. It was designed and constructed by companies with Marin roots: Alten Construction and Group 4 Architecture.
