Adopt A Family of Marin raised over $110,000 through its 2026 Valentine fundraising campaign, surpassing a $37,000 anonymous donor match to support Marin families at risk
of homelessness.

The Valentine campaign kicked off at Adopt A Family’s annual Valentine Luncheon, where community members gathered to support the mission to prevent and end family homelessness in Marin County. Executive Director Jacqueline Jaffee said the community’s response comes at a critical time for families in Marin.

“For 11 out of 12 months in 2025, more families in Marin entered homelessness than exited homelessness. Family homelessness in our community is getting slowly and steadily worse, with over 50 families currently homeless in Marin County,” she said.
Jaffee also emphasized data that shows Adopt A Family’s long-term impact and the urgent need to reach families earlier.

“Over the three-year period between Jan. 1, 2022, and Dec. 31, 2024, 99% of the more than 3,000 families we engaged never became homeless. At the same time, 75% of the families that became homeless in Marin did not engage with Adopt A Family before becoming homeless. Many families are still not receiving support early enough. We know what we’re doing works; we just need more families contacting us in their moment of need,” she said.

The Valentine campaign’s success will help Adopt A Family reach more families sooner, before a crisis results in homelessness, she said.
