MUSIC FOR MARIN NONPROFITS

The annual Whistlestock concert on Sept. 29 at Marin Center’s Fair Island in San Rafael featured the music of Elvin Bishop and Tommy Castro. The event was attended by approximately 400 people and raised $200,000 for Whistlestop, the Marin-based organization that serves older adults and people with disabilities. These partiers were the guests at the Alten Construction table. Bread & Roses Presents had a successful fall benefit concert at the Sweetwater Music Hall on Mon. Oct. 1. Musical host Johnny Colla & Friends performed a few of his favorite songs along with Ziek and Ben (Ezekial McCarter and Benjamin Andrews) of Con Brio and the San Francisco rock band Dark & Stormy. Proceeds from the event will support Bread & Roses’ ongoing program of over 600 annual shows for isolated audiences throughout the Bay Area, with approximately 300 programs a year for youth, adults and seniors in Marin County who need music most.
