SINGING, SANTA AND SEWING

Mayflower Chorus will present its annual holiday show, “Sounds of the Season,” Dec. 7, 8 p.m., and Dec. 8, 2:30 and 7:30 p.m., at the Marin Center Showcase Theater, 10 Avenue of the Flags, San Rafael. The program includes an eclectic mix of classic and popular tunes and the audience will have a chance to sing with the chorus. The Mayflower, a 60-voice chorus directed by David Manley and accompanied by Monica Norcia, came into being 39 years ago when a group of friends began singing Christmas carols at San Rafael’s Mayflower Pub. Tickets are available at Marin Center Box Office at (415) 473-6800 or online at  marincounty.org/depts/cu/calendar#/?i=2.    -Photo courtesy of Mayflower Chorus

This sensory-friendly visit and photo with Santa is by appointment so there’s a calm environment and no lines. Therapy dogs from Marin Humane will be available to gently visit with the children. The Mt. Tam Quilt Guild makes quilts for non-profit organizations that give them to children and adults who have suffered illness, loss or trauma. The quilt (above, top) was one of the 11 quilts made for victims of the 2017 North Bay fires and the quilt (above, bottom) was one of many made for Marin General Newborn Intensive Care Unit. Guild members have  made and donated quilts to numerous Marin County nonprofits including Homeward Bound of Marin, Senior Access, West Marin Senior Services, Buckelew Family Services, Hospice by the Bay and San Pedro School Family Services.     -Photos courtesy of Mt.
