SCHOOLSRULE STEPS RIGHT UP!

The seventh annual SchoolsRule fundraising event was held July 1 at the Marin County Fairgrounds with almost 500 guests in attendance. The event is the primary fundraiser for SchoolsRule, a coalition of all Marin County public school foundations working to benefit every public school student in the county. Pictured (above) are a panel of students and a teacher who shared how their educational experience has been impacted by programs supported by SchoolsRule funds.

At the event, guests were able to experience first-hand the innovative technologies that SchoolsRule funds help support through Dedication to Special Education. Guests also enjoyed a performance by the Mill Valley Middle School’s Bluegrass Band and a delicious dinner donated by Nugget Markets. Funds raised at the event and through other donations are distributed annually to each foundation on a per student, supporting programs in the arts, literacy, technology and health.  This year’s distribution goal is $1 million. Pictured (above, top) are party-goers at the Nugget Markets sponsored table and (above, bottom) the Nugget markets catering team.

More than 50% of the funds distributed are raised through the event including sponsorships and a raise the paddle the night of the event which raised more than $115,000!  Special thanks to our many Giving Marin Partners who sponsored the event, including the presenting sponsor Redwood Credit Union (above, top), the silver sponsor CPi Developers, the platinum sponsor Kaiser Permanente, the founding partner Marin Independent Journal (above, bottom), the table sponsors Ghilotti Brothers, College of Marin and Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical and the gold sponsor Nugget Markets. -Photos by Stuart Lirette

On  July 12, Ed Rossi and Doug Gold from Marin Subaru stopped by Whistlestop to deliver a check for $14,625 from Subaru of America’s 2018 Share the Love Event. Since 2017, Marin Subaru has chosen Whistlestop as its Hometown Charity, raising a total of $43,625 to help older adults in the county receive home-delivered meals, healthful groceries and affordable lunches through Whistlestop’s vital nutrition programs. An additional  $4,805 was raised through Subaru of America as part of the Share the Love national campaign for Meals on Wheels. That’s an added $10,712 donated to Meals on Wheels in Marin since 2017 and 1,785 meals delivered to homebound older adults.                         -Photo courtesy of Whistlestop
