The Blue Star Moms of Marin coordinated a Care Packages for the Troops event with btc Marin (boys team charity), at their general meeting in early October.  Volunteers packed 48 boxes of snacks and more than 200 letters of appreciation for troops far from home.

btc Marin is a nonprofit volunteer service organization dedicated to developing an altruistic spirit in young men in seventh to 12th grades through active participation of parents and sons in philanthropic projects in their communities. btc Marin partners with over 20 nonprofit organizations in Marin to help support their missions through volunteer service.

“These boxes are very welcome reminders to those receiving them that we here at home have not forgotten their service and sacrifice,” said Barbara Bochner, Blue Star Moms of Marin president.

The Marin chapter of the Blue Star Moms has been fulfilling its mission to support troops, their families and veterans by working with local youth and adult service groups, schools and individuals, whose support makes these programs possible.

The boxes cost approximately $20 each to send to their military destinations. The Blue Star Moms is a nonprofit, all volunteer organization of moms and friends of active duty military and veterans.
