The Book Exchange, a 2022 Giving Marin grant recipient, is the beneficiary of 2023 Holiday Book Drive of Copperfield’s Books in San Rafael. Each year, Copperfield’s Books encourages their customers to buy children’s books which are donated to a literacy-oriented Marin nonprofit.
For over 35 years, the all-volunteer Book Exchange has provided books to students from Marin’s most under-resourced communities. Their mission is to encourage a love of reading, promote child literacy, and work to ensure that all children have access to books. Each year, The Book Exchange gives away approximately 20,000 books to about 2,000 Marin students.
“Our Marin community has been most generous in providing gently-used books,” said Diane Brandell, operations manager of The Book Exchange. “We are also in need of new books that are popular with our students. Copperfield’s Books Holiday Book Drive will help tremendously to fill this need.”
The Holiday Book Drive runs through Christmas at Copperfield’s Books, 1200 4th St. in San Rafael.
