The Bay Area Creative Foundation announced the 2024
Creative Youth Award recipients. The 2024 youth awards
received over 1,800 submissions from Bay Area high school
students in seven creative disciplines: creative writing, dance,
film, music performance, original music, photography and
visual arts.
This year 592 students received cash awards totaling over
$109,000. Eleven students achieved the highest honors of
Presidential and Creative Artist Awards — each receiving a
$1,000 cash award. Other award categories, Superior ($500),
Exceptional ($200) and Special ($100) were awarded across the
submission disciplines.
A jury of 38 discipline-specific Bay Area arts professionals reviewed the submissions. The review panels included award- winning writers and filmmakers, artists, musicians, educators and curators.
Each year all eligible Creative Youth Award applicants are featured in the online Creative Gallery and receive a year long membership to MasterClass.
“We believe valuing and celebrating the artistic experimentation of our youth at a formative time can inspire
a lifetime of creativity,” said Bay Area Creative Foundation Executive Director Lani Rovzar.
The awards are held annually with the opportunity to submit original artworks and performances across a range
of creative disciplines including art, dance, film, music, photography and writing. More than 4,400 Bay Area students have been awarded $288,000 in awards since the program’s inception in 2021.
