Twenty-five outstanding athletes and scholars from Marin County high schools were honored by the Marin Athletic Foundation on May 6 at the Embassy Suites hotel in San Rafael.
Students nominated for the award are top athletes and role models for their teammates in promoting the success of the team both on and off the field. Team contributions include captain, league recognitions and related special honors. The students have demonstrated a record of academic success, leadership in the accomplishment of established goals, are a positive role model for other students, and are involved in school and community activities other than athletics and academic areas.
The 2024 Marin County Outstanding Student Athletes are:
• Archie Williams: Loretta Hovey, Malcolm John McKenzie and Alexander McKenzie
• The Branson School: Logan Tusher and Jase Butler
• Marin Academy: Kate Lane and Malcolm Zalayet
• Marin Catholic: Audrey Carr and Peter Macaulay
• Novato: Jacqueline Merola and Nicholas McAuley
• Redwood: Jaden Hendrickson and Jake Vasquez
• San Domenico: Summer Jenkins and Joaquin Foster
• San Marin: Emma Rogers and Vaughn Miguel
• San Rafael: Angel Amesa and Lazlo Clements
• Tamalpais: Maren Jones and Auvin Cole
• Terra Linda: Olivia Brewster and Jonah Truett
• Tomales: Natalia Gutierrez and Noel Gutierrez

“These students are an accomplished group of young adults. Criteria considered in determining the students who receive this award are first and foremost athletic involvement and scholarship followed by leadership, school/ community involvement and deportment,” said Judy Colton, Marin Athletic Foundation board member. “The MAF is proud to be able to honor these outstanding students who are truly the best of the best and are representative of the fine educational institutions we have in Marin County.”
