Isabelle Davis and Emily Hitchcock, seniors at Redwood High School, began selling honey from a small beehive in Tiburon out of a shared passion for women’s rights and activism.
Davis and her family had hives in her backyard for many years, sharing the honey with family and friends. But after meeting the staff at Center for Domestic Peace and learning about the services the group provides, they decided to sell the honey and donate 100% of the proceeds to the nonprofit.
“I will never forget the day Isabelle and I first spoke with the C4DP staff about the vast amount of support services they offer victims. It was a deeply moving experience,” Hitchcock said.
According to C4DP, the organization relies heavily on partnerships and donations. With the rising costs of operations and a decrease in government funding, the group is constantly seeking new ways to sustain its growth and continue providing services.
“We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to partner with Isabelle and Emily, who have chosen to donate the proceeds from their Jars for Joy Honey to C4DP,” said Tara Peterson, Center for Domestic Peace executive director. “Not only does this partnership help to raise funds for our organization, but it also raises awareness for the important work we do in supporting survivors in our community. We are proud to work with such dedicated and compassionate young entrepreneurs who share our commitment to uplifting and supporting others.”
“Using the sweet resources from our backyard to support our community is more important than ever,” Davis added. “I’ve enjoyed working with the staff at C4DP and interacting with all kinds of people in our community so much, and I have learned wonders through this whole experience.”
