RESILIENT MARIN TARGETS CHILDHOOD TRAUMA IMPACTS

The death of Marion Kregeloh’s son Alex from fentanyl poisoning in April 2020 led her to develop a new resource for parents, Resilient Marin, created with Don Carney of Youth Transforming Justice. According to Kregeloh, her son’s death by overdose was sourced in his unhealed childhood traumas that led to substance abuse, addiction and, ultimately, his untimely death. In response to a growing concern about the impact of childhood trauma on youth, the goal of Resilient Marin is to educate the community and collaborate with agencies serving youth to ensure that childhood trauma is understood, identified and prioritized to prevent re-traumatization. The group is looking to partner with parent groups, schools, mental health and drug prevention organizations in a collective effort to look at ways to create a kinder and more supportive environment for Marin County’s children and families.
