FOURTEEN UNIQUE NONPROFITS AWARDED GRANTS TOTALING $60K TO EXPAND LOCAL IMPACTS
Giving Marin Community Partnership awarded $60,000 in grants to 14 nonprofits on March 11 in the atrium of the Performing Arts Center at College of Marin in Kentfield. Marin charities have received $500,000 in grants and more than $4 million in advertising space donations since the initiative’s 2018 inception.
“We’re thankful for the vital work performed by the 14 incredible nonprofits we are able to recognize,” Rob Devincenzi, Marin Independent Journal publisher, told the crowd alongside Giving Marin Coordinator Sara Moseley. “This moment in time is critical for the private funding and exposure we are providing to nonprofits — some of which are losing critical federal funding as we speak. Marin is a community unlike any other and we are proud to play a small role in affecting change for the good and to support their missions.”
The grant winners, selected among more than 100 applicants, were introduced by the underwriters of the initiative. They are: Adopt A Family of Marin, Blind and Vision Impaired of Marin, We Breastoration Ink, Center for Employment Opportunities, Children for Change, Front Porch Communities Foundation, Gallery Route One, Karma Club Teen, Marin American Indian Alliance, Mayflower Community Chorus, Opening the World, Soma Aquatics Foundation, Soroptimist International of Novato and The Transformative Justice Institute.
Support for Giving Marin’s 2024 grant winners is made possible through Partners Redwood Credit Union, Kaiser Permanente, Ghilotti Bros. Inc., College of Marin, Brayton Purcell/Thirty-Seven Wines, Nugget Markets, Price Family Dealerships, CPi Developers and Marin Independent Journal, and Sponsors Prandi Property Management, City Carpets, Valley Memorial Park Cemetery and Funeral Home, Northern Pacific Roofing, Ultragenyx, Bay Area Bluestone and The Barbara and Charles Goodman Foundation. In addition to annual cash grants, their generosity allows publicity through upward of 50 ads in the IJ supporting Marin-based 501(c)(3)s each month.
“Giving Marin is more than a cash award,” Moseley said. “It’s about connecting the business community to nonprofits, fostering connections and doing the important work in Marin that can only be done in partnership.”
