Enriching Lives through Music announced that Dulce Solis, a cellist and sophomore at San Rafael High School, has been selected as one of 12 youth ambassadors for El Sistema USA’s West Coast Regional Gathering this June in Baltimore, Maryland.

Solis has been part of ELM since the age of 8, and her journey has been marked by remarkable growth as both a musician and a leader. As a youth ambassador, she will join a select group of young musicians from across the country to lead sessions, share insights and collaborate with music educators, administrators and fellow students. The two- day symposium, supported by faculty and students from the Peabody Innovation through Music Academy, will focus on youth leadership and strategies for empowering the next generation of music leaders.

Solis was selected from hundreds of applicants nationwide, a recognition of her dedication, talent, and commitment to musical and personal growth. In preparation for this role, she has been working closely with her ELM cello teacher, Sydney Perez, to refine her musicianship and leadership skills.

“We are incredibly proud of Dulce and all that she has achieved,” said Sydney Perez, ELM’s music education director. “Her selection as a youth ambassador is a testament to her hard work and passion for music. We are excited to see her continue to grow and inspire others in this role.”

A member of ELM’s youth orchestra since 2022, Dulce has not only excelled musically but has also developed as a confident leader, mentor and advocate for her community, the organization’s leaders said. Through this program, she has strengthened essential skills such as discipline, focus and collaboration, while also engaging in service and peer mentorship.
