Ritter Center held its annual Community Holiday Meal for over 100 individuals experiencing homelessness on Dec. 10. Organizers said it was an evening filled with warmth, dignity and care.

Each guest enjoyed a holiday dinner followed by dessert and hot beverages. But the evening offered more than just a meal — everyone received care packages filled with winter essentials including toiletries, warm coats and sleeping bags to help them through the cold months.

“Providing a hot meal and warm winter clothing to our unsheltered neighbors is more than a holiday tradition — it’s a lifeline,” said Mark Shotwell, CEO of Ritter Center. “This meal reflects our commitment to meeting people’s most basic needs with dignity and compassion. While the holidays bring visibility, homelessness is a year-round reality, and so is our responsibility to show up with food, care and support every day of the year.”

Ritter Center’s event was supported by the Redwood High School Ritter Center Club, Marin Community Foundation, Nugget Markets and First Presbyterian Church of San Rafael.
