SALVATION ARMY NEEDS VOLUNTEERS FOR BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT

The Salvation Army needs volunteers to help with the 2018 Target Back-to-School Shopping Spree on August 4, 6-8:30 a.m., at the Target Store, 200 Vintage Way in Novato. Volunteers will help Marin children in need secure school clothing and supplies for the upcoming school year. HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

GEM is a garden program in San Rafael that prepares people with disabilities for bright careers. They're looking for volunteers this summer to help us out with social media and sustainable agriculture projects in the garden. Volunteers will work with diverse populations and make a difference in their community! VOLUNTEER AT MCBC DIRT FONDO

The 2018 Marin County Bicycle Coalition's Dirt Fondo will take place on August 18 in the Marin Headlands. Volunteers are needed for shifts throughout the day, setting up, supporting the riders and cleaning up after the event. Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt and lunch. VOLUNTEER FOR THE RCP TIBURON MILE

Shoreline Park, Tiburon

Lifehouse invites swimmers to participate in the 17th Annual RCP Tiburon Mile on August 19. Over 500 athletes come together to swim the world renowned one-mile open water race from Angel Island to Tiburon. Volunteers are needed to help check in athletes and prepare the race. ENVIRONMENTAL TRAVELING COMPANIONS NEEDS VOLUNTEER SEA KAYAK GUIDES

Environmental Traveling Companions is a non-profit, volunteer based organization that provides outdoor adventure and environmental education experiences for people of all abilities. The organization conducts Sea Kayak, Whitewater Rafting, and Cross Country Skiing trips for youth and adults from under-resourced backgrounds and people with disabilities as well as extended Youth Leadership Programs for disadvantaged youth. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR ASTRONOMY NIGHTS

Come help out with Astronomy Nights at the Mountain Theater in Mount Tamalpais State Park. Astronomy Nights are monthly though October occurring on the Saturday evening close to the new moon. Speakers present different topics at each event. Everyone is invited to the night sky orientation and telescope viewing with the San Francisco Amateur Astronomers after the presentation.
