The Rotary Club of Ignacio Foundation provided nearly $50,000 in grants for community and international projects. The foundation monies come from a combination of club-raised funds from members, special events and sponsors, Rotary District 5150 funds and Rotary International funds.

Ten thousand dollars in college scholarships for local graduating high school students were granted; $4,500 was spent on used computer equipment which was updated and shipped to the Philippines for disadvantaged school children; and $4,500 was spent on several environmental related projects including landscape revitalization at the College of Marin Indian Valley campus, tools for fire fuel reduction work and support for environmental groups Ride and Drive Clean and Resilient Neighborhoods.

Other local projects included donating $1,650 with other Rotary clubs to distribute picture dictionaries to all Novato third-graders (matched by the two Novato Rotary clubs); and $1,000 to the local Relay for Life American Cancer Society effort (matched by $10,000 to $15,000 pledged by club members). Grants totaling $1,500 were provided to support hygiene kits in Uganda.

The members of the Rotary Club of Ignacio conducted a successful fundraiser among its members to support humanitarian work in Ukraine. Funds in the amount of $10,000 were provided to the Rotary Klub Warszara Wilanow. In addition, nearly $9,000 was sent to the Rotary International Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund which will be used in Ukraine. For more information, visit ignaciorotary.org.
