The 15th anniversary of the Point Reyes Birding & Nature Festival is scheduled for April 19-21.

This annual event celebrates the spring bird and wildlife migration along the Pacific Flyway throughout Marin and Sonoma counties and brings together experienced birders, naturalists, and others interested to learn about birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and the unique lands and waters of the areas. This year’s event will feature more than 40 field events in Marin, Sonoma and Contra Costa counties.

This annual event benefits the Environmental Action Committee of West Marin’s mission to protect and sustain the unique lands, waters and biodiversity of coastal West Marin County.

Point Reyes National Seashore provides the main backdrop

for the festival, which some say offers some of the finest birding in the United States with over 70,000 acres of habitat including estuaries, grasslands, coastal scrub and forest with a strong influence from the Pacific Ocean. More than 54% of all North American bird species have been spotted and recorded

in Point Reyes.

Festival sponsors are sought to provide programming, and honorariums for guides and speakers, reduced pricing for attendees and scholarships for youth, elders and educators, free youth/family program with live bird ambassadors, and nature and art activities. Gifts will

be matched up to $15,000. To learn more about the festival or become a member of EAC, visit pointreyesbirdingfestival.org.
