California State Parks invites the public to welcome the new year with First Day Hikes, a nationwide tradition encouraging people of all ages to begin Jan. 1 with outdoor recreation, wellness and community connection.
The Bay Area District of state parks will host guided hikes across Marin, Sonoma and Napa counties, offering opportunities to explore redwood forests, shoreline habitats, mountain vistas and historic landscapes. Participants will enjoy ranger- and partner-led hikes focused on natural history and wildlife, geology and cultural stories, physical and mental health benefits of spending time outdoors. First Day Hikes draw thousands of participants statewide each year. For more information, visit parks.ca.gov/FirstDayHikes.
