Dominican University of California recognized Lara Rajninger, executive director of Kids Cooking for Life, with the Community Leadership Award for her dedication to community impact and leadership development.
The award was presented by Denise M. Lucy, executive director and professor at the Institute for Leadership Studies.
The recognition highlights her commitment to inspiring others, fostering belonging and creating a lasting legacy of community engagement. For nearly 10 years, Rajninger has partnered with Dominican University to provide hands-on internship opportunities for business leadership students.
These collaborations have strengthened Kids Cooking for Life while giving students meaningful, real-world experience.
“I’ve always believed that strong communities don’t just happen. They’re built through intention, collaboration and a shared sense of responsibility,” Rajninger said.
Through her leadership, Rajninger continues to mentor emerging leaders and advance purpose-driven community work, reinforcing the value of service and collaboration. This award underscores the power of sustained partnerships between nonprofit organizations and academic institutions, according to the Institute for Leadership Studies — and the lasting impact of leadership rooted in purpose and connection.
