The Rotary Club of Ignacio held its third “Service Above Self” Awards ceremony on June 4 at Homeward Bound in Novato. The annual awards recognize one member from the Novato Fire Protection District and the Novato Police Department who epitomizes “Service Above Self,” Rotary International’s motto.
Jayne Hulbert, former district governor of Rotary District 5150 and a member of Ignacio Rotary, initiated the awards in 2024 and served as chair of the event.
This year’s recipients are Ricky Godoy, an engineer and paramedic with the Novato Fire Department, and Sgt. Derrick Young of the Novato Police Department. They were lauded for dedication to their respective departments and commitment to the community.
