Dominican Sisters’ support will sustain domestic violence services in Marin Center for Domestic Peace has received a $75,000 grant from the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael to help sustain domestic violence services at a time when survivors and families across Marin County continue to face urgent and growing needs.
The three-year grant, awarded through the Dominican Sisters’ Preaching Hope Program-Vision, will provide $25,000 annually to support Center for Domestic Peace’s core safety net programs, including its 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, legal advocacy and trauma-informed therapeutic services.
“We are deeply grateful to the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael for their steadfast partnership and shared commitment to justice, compassion and dignity,” said Tara Peterson, executive director of Center for Domestic Peace. “At a time of significant uncertainty in federal funding for victim services, this grant helps ensure that survivors and their children can continue to access safety, advocacy and healing when they need it most.”
For more than four decades, Center for Domestic Peace has served as Marin County’s primary resource for domestic violence prevention and response. The organization provides a continuum of support that includes crisis intervention, safe shelter, legal advocacy, counseling, youth and family services and community education.
Center for Domestic Peace’s longstanding relationship with the Dominican Sisters has helped advance critical services for survivors and families in Marin County. Previous Vision Fund support strengthened therapeutic services for children and non-abusing parents and expanded legal advocacy for survivors navigating complex safety and justice systems.
“This grant reflects more than a financial investment — it reflects a shared vision of a community where every person can live free from violence and fear,” Peterson added.
As economic pressures and community needs continue to increase, the Dominican Sisters’ support will help C4DP maintain survivor- centered services for residents throughout Marin County.
