MARIN CITY NONPROFITS REBRAND

Felecia Gaston is executive director of RIZE MARIN, which folds four nonprofits under one name.

Youth enrichment, safety net services, engagement and historic preservation now under single name

Performing Stars of Marin, a community organization serving Marin County for more than 35 years, announced it has relaunched as RIZE MARIN, bringing its four program areas together under a unified identity. The rebrand marks the next chapter for an organization that began in 1990 as a single performing arts program for low-income children in Marin City and has since grown into
a multi-faceted institution providing youth enrichment, safety net services, community engagement and historical preservation across the county.

RIZE MARIN’s impact spans four program areas, each continuing its work without interruption under the new name:

● Performing Stars (youth enrichment): Continuing the foundational legacy established in 1990, offering year-round arts enrichment, summer camp scholarships, field trips, preschool readiness programs and youth leadership development.

● Phoenix Project (safety net services): Founded in 2009, delivering individual safety- net support, including outreach case management, crisis response, legal assistance coordination, resource referrals and job readiness training.

Marin City Historical Society (history and legacy): Established in 2022, archiving and preservation, a traveling exhibit of

more than 1,000 items, educational presentations, publications, and public art installations that preserve and uplift Marin City’s Black history and cultural legacy.

● Beacon Solutions (community engagement): Building on community services provided since 1998, focuses on civic education, emergency and climate resilience, neighborhood engagement and local food distribution.

“When we lift up people, families and culture, we all rise together,” said Felecia Gaston, founder and executive director of RIZE MARIN. “Our founding name, Performing Stars, reflects where we started — but not who we have become. RIZE MARIN is more than a new name. It carries forward the brightness of our original stars to illuminate both our history and our hope for what comes next.”
