Gathering place inside Northgate mall offers food, wellness talks on Saturdays
Marin County residents will have a new place to gather, access healthy food, connect with local resources and spend time with neighbors starting Aug. 1.
Located inside Northgate mall in San Rafael, The Kove is a new community hub representing an effort to close gaps that no single organization can solve alone — from food insecurity and access to community resources to social isolation and health and wellness education opportunities. All programs are free and open to Marin County residents of all ages.
The Kove Collective, a partnership of in-kind community partners including SF-Marin Food Bank, ExtraFood, Sutter Health, Marin Community Clinics, Dominican University and Karma Club, will bring services and programming to the space each Saturday. Additional organizations are expected to join the collective as programming expands.
During a Saturday visit, residents can:
● Enroll and shop at The Kove Market, a free food pantry operated in partnership with SF-Marin Food Bank and ExtraFood
● Connect with community resources, including programs such as CalFresh, Medi-Cal and other local services
● Attend wellness talks and educational programs led by community partners Sutter Health, Marin Community Clinics, Dominican University and more
● Meet neighbors over complimentary coffee, tea and light refreshments during Neighbor Connection Hour, with refreshments provided by Good Earth Natural Foods and others
● Learn about volunteer opportunities and ways to get involved.
