Parents looking for after-school enrichment opportunities for their children this fall are invited to learn about the 4-H program in Marin County, designed for kids ages 5-18. An open house will be held Sept. 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the program’s office at 1682 Novato Blvd. in Novato.
Operated by the Marin staff of University of California Cooperative Extension, 4-H offers projects in agriculture, science, technology, healthy living and civic engagement at locations throughout the county. Other activities include crocheting, rocketry, gardening and floriculture. Adult volunteers also
have opportunities to develop and lead new projects.
During the open house participants can meet volunteers, explore the variety of 4-H projects available, ask questions about the program and learn how 4-H helps youth develop leadership, life skills and friendships.
Since 1924, through STEM, healthy living, civic engagement and leadership, 4-H says its young participants have built confidence, strengthened life skills and become active contributors in their communities.
Families interested in enrolling their children, as well as adults interested in volunteering, can find more information and registration details at ucanr.edu/county/marin-county. Information about the program is also available at library branches throughout Marin.
