P.A.I.N.T. (Promoting Arts, Individuals and Natural Talents) Art Collective, a nonprofit gallery and creative community dedicated to creating opportunities for artists with disabilities to share their work, connect with others and be recognized for their talents, held its inaugural benefit evening and art exhibition, “Every Voice, Every Vision” at the Sausalito Center for the Arts from Sept. 2-7.
More than 1,000 people visited the exhibition during its six-day run, including artists, families, supporters and community members from throughout Marin County and from Brentwood, where the organization’s day program is based.
The benefit exhibition brought together artwork by P.A.I.N.T. artists, artists from other day programs and local artists, demonstrating the many ways people experience and express creativity.
“Our job is not to tell someone what their potential should look like. Our job is to create the space for them to discover it,” said Jechane Reyes, executive director of Community Integrated Support Services, the parent organization of P.A.I.N.T.
Since opening its doors in downtown Sausalito 18 months ago, P.A.I.N.T. has presented numerous exhibitions, participated in community events throughout Marin, hosted seasonal drop-in workshops, offered customized workshops for people of all abilities, and welcomed guest artists to share their creativity.
